I never knocked upon your eyes
Your eyes themselves invited me.
No easy path was laid before
the threshold guarded mystery.
The hour, however, wove its spell,
and destiny unbarred the gate
How could I turn away the call
when silence whispered, “Do not wait”?
With warmth and winter, storm and fire,
I stepped within to seek your soul
a wandering breeze became a bird,
and found your gaze its final goal.
Yet once inside, the doors were sealed
no window opened to the sky.
I longed to leave, but strangely found
my wings had quite forgotten why.
Was I a captive? Was I free?
The answer bloomed beyond my sight
for chains were forged of tender dreams,
and prison walls were built of light.
My restless heart, once homeless dust,
now crowns your quiet gaze its throne
The palace that I called my own
has vanished, yours became my home.
Within the crystal of your eyes
my every dream has taken birth
Each heartbeat hangs like a silver lamp,
illuminating heaven on earth.
The guest I was, has disappeared
The host and guest are one at last.
My soul has signed its timeless name
upon the mirror of your heart.
If ever fate should ask of me,
“Where does your kingdom truly lie?”
I’ll smile and point to only one
the endless empire of your eyes.
There, with my soul forever crowned,
beyond all fear, beyond disguise,
I reign without a sword or throne
the silent master of your eyes.
