Even within our closest bonds,
Lie tangled threads, unseen beyond.
Though all is shared and all is known,
They never truly feel our own.
Only the semblance fools the eyes-
A warmth that fades, a sweet disguise.
From far they seem so full of care,
Yet distance guards what isn’t there.
Conflicting thoughts, unseen distress,
Twist tender hearts to weariness.
They crush the soul, they bruise the trust,
Turn blooming hopes to crimson dust.
Each day, those hopes revive again,
While ties once pure now drip with pain.
Forced together, in name alone,
They bind the heart, yet chill the bone.
A bundle came of sweet deceit,
It entered home on stealthy feet.
Once opened wide, its poison spread,
Till truth lay bare and warmth was dead.
Neither I remained, nor they,
Deceit dissolved all ties that day-
In shimmering lies, those fragile chains,
Lay drowned in their own, gleaming stains.
